Warner Center On-Street Transit Hub, Los Angeles, California
Prior to joining KOA, CBM Consulting provided engineering design and construction support services for a ˝ mile pedestrian-oriented public transit “hub” at Warner Center in Canoga Park. CBM teamed with Meléndrez to provide the landscape architecture design work, and KOA, as a subconsultant, provided pedestrian and custom street lighting for the project.
This hub is at the confluence of several transit lines, providing a unique outdoor bus terminal environment for transit users. The project included wide sidewalks with landscaping, landscaped medians, PCC paving for bus lanes, AC paving for center lanes, stamped / colored PCC crosswalks, public artwork, information kiosks, gateway arches, underground utilities, and bus stations. The gateway arches provide a unique landmark statement for this site. CBM was responsible for the overall design and construction documents for the project consisting of 1600 feet of roadway improvements, continuous bus pads, pedestrian improvements, urban design, environmental graphics, hardscape, landscape, irrigation, specialty street and pedestrian lighting, and specialty bus shelters. The project involved coordination of private property easement negotiations, public outreach, as well as extensive coordination with city and transit agencies.
