Engineering for Five Miles of Roadway and Streetscape Improvements, Thermal, California
KOA was selected by the Economic Development Agency (EDA) for the County of Riverside to provide professional engineering services for streetscape and safety improvements to approximately 5 miles of roads throughout the Town of Thermal. A key feature of the design included widening of 3.5 miles of an existing 2-lane road to 7-lane urban arterial standard, along with related appurtenances. The project included, surveying and mapping, design of street improvements of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, paving and striping, landscape median islands with left turn pockets, street lights, the addition of two entry monuments, architectural bus stops, improvement to drainage, design of one new traffic signal and modification of two existing traffic signals, and one at-grade railroad crossing. Project management and oversight services were provided for this $25 million construction cost project.
