Ontario Avenue / Interstate 15 Interchange Congestion Relief Project, Corona, California
KOA was selected by the City of Corona to make improvements to Ontario Avenue at the Interstate 15 interchange in order to relieve traffic congestion at the freeway undercrossing. This was achieved by widening Ontario Avenue beneath the I-15 bridge. KOA completed a traffic study to determine the number of lanes needed by developing six alternatives for roadway improvement. The proposed improvements included adding at least one additional lane in each direction and construction of tie-back walls to achieve the proposed widening. Traffic signals were modified at three locations, with the addition of turn lanes for the off-ramps.
