Rosemead Blvd. Cycle Tracks Open in Temple City

The City of Temple City hosted its grand opening of the Rosemead Boulevard Safety Enhancements and Beautification Project on May 10, 2014. The project includes only the second set of bike lanes separated from traffic by parked cars in Southern California: KOA designed both of them. Standard bike lanes were initially envisioned for this streetscape project but they evolved into separated bike lanes, or cycle tracks, after the success of the KOA-designed cycle tracks in Long Beach. Careful consideration was given to cyclist's safety by creating "sight triangles" at driveways that are clear of tall vegetation and parked cars.

To the left, Team KOA members Alan Braatvedt, Bruce Chow, and Joel Falter ride on Temple City's new cycle tracks on opening day.
