Dynamic Message Sign and ITS Deployment Projects, Anaheim, California
Since 1991, KOA Corporation has been retained by the City of Anaheim for on-call design of traffic signal systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) facilities, and various tasks for City Capital Improvement Projects. In a recent project KOA provided designs for deployment of additional Dynamic Message Signs which provide motorist information around the Disney Resorts. KOA has prepared extensive plans for installation of, or modifications to, the City’s fiber optic communication and video surveillance systems. We have designed or modified traffic signals to provide, or modify, CCTV systems at various locations, and have provided coordination between the City and Caltrans to provide for exchange of ITS information in conjunction with the I-5 widening project. In addition, KOA has prepared plans to change out signal controllers to Model 2070 units, provided interconnect with twisted pair or fiber optic communication, and provided “SCOOT” loops to allow for traffic adaptive operation for major arterial streets in Anaheim.
